Not the clearest photo every, but a general sweep around to get the impression of how busy it was in the middle of town outside our local church on Friday, when my daughter’s school year gathered prior to going into Exeter for their Prom. It does make more sense if you click on it and see the whole thing, honest!
A pop up restaurant? In our little town? Really?! Well, there’s only one way to find out what that’s all about isn’t there? Go and give it a try!
The Pickle Shack have actually hosted the Honiton Grub Club in one of our local halls a total of four times now. This is the first time I, and my friend Mary, have been to try it. The concept is simple. They hire the hall, come along with their chef Josh McDonald-Johnson who has worked for several 2 Michelin starred chefs. You pre-book and pay, turn up, bring a bottle or two and have an amazing meal. They clear up, move out and it’s almost as if it was all in your imagination.
As you can see from the above menu, we had a wonderful feast all made from locally sourced ingredients, the details of which were supplied to us too and made for interesting reading.
Rather than whitter on about how beautiful the food looked and tasted, here are a couple more photos.
If you should ever hear of the Pickle Shack, if they pop up in your locality or they cater an event near to you, I most definitely recommend going along. Mary and I have said that we’ll be keeping an eye out for the next time they’re in town so we can book our places straight away.
