X is for … X-Rated! #A-ZPhotoChallenge #AnimalTales 01/03/2016

Okay….promise me that you won’t zoom in on this photo of a squirrel…..and his nuts!!

I SWEAR I had no idea until I got home and looked at the photo on the computer screen – honest!

I was actually disappointed with the quality of the photos I’d taken on my phone – every one was fuzzy, but there’s still…..erm…..a lot of detail on some of them!

This was one of my morning walks. It was a lovely one; late enough to miss the school kids and the dog walkers, so I wasn’t tempted to stop and natter, but I was absolutely amazed at the number of squirrels who were out and playing in the winter sunshine – so I stopped walking anyhow!

Usually I see the odd one or two squirrels, but there were masses of them, in very high spirits from the warmth I think. They were darting up and down the trees, jumping over the river and running in and out of the gardens which adjoin this wooded area. It was a lovely sight.

I did get one more reasonable-ish photo….

I showed this one (thankfully not the other one!) to my nephew, Euan, who is three, and asked him what it was. His answer? A rabbit….

A Gate For All Seasons – February

IMG_0042

Somewhat brighter than January (hurray!) but with lovely frosty grass! Taken from a bit further back this month so you can see the bin I was moaning about. On the right you can see orange tape where a recycling lorry skidded on ice and crashed through the handrail and into a garden last month.

It does, I guess, make more sense to take one from closer up so I can see if there are any changes, so here’s one I took on my mobile from the beginning of February.

Again, beautiful blue sky, which is just what we want!

Hoping to see some changes in the trees next month…..

My Sunday Photo – 28/02/2016

Whilst we usually manage at least one trip to Blackbury Camp during bluebell season, we’ve never thought to go at any other time of year before, so far as I can remember.

Wednesday this week was my last day working at the library, with my official finish date tomorrow. It’s been a wonderful place to work and the last day was quite sad. When I finished my husband picked me up and we thought it would be nice to go for a walk to give me time to try to gather my thoughts and pull my head back together. We were originally heading down to the beach for a walk along the front, but when I saw the sun setting and noticed the shadows and colours it was creating as we were driving along, I put forward the idea of stopping at Blackbury Camp for a look.

After initially worrying that it would be too muddy underfoot, we only had to do a little bit of careful walking to get to more solid ground and really were rewarded by glorious sights. I have a thing about “naked” trees (oo-er!) so to finally be able to take photos of some was a treat. It was also a good excuse to try out my new camera. I was quite pleased with the results and, when we finally left I did feel much better. Just goes to show that you ought to make an effort to visit your regular haunts at different times of the year.
